HOPS Musical Theatre Company (formally known as Harrogate Operatic Players) are based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, exceeding expectations in musical theatre.
We provide a Happy, Optimistic, Positive and Supportive platform for all budding actors, actresses, dancers, crew and creative individuals. 
We are a diverse group of mixed genders, ages, backgrounds, ethnics, work ethics..... we basically welcome anybody and everybody! 
As of 2021, we have now become a Charity Incorporated Organisation.
We are currently celebrating 100 years of being Harrogate's longest running musical theatre society!

A Fiery Announcement - Our 2025 Show

We are delighted to announce that in June 2025 we will be performing the critically acclaimed, newly released ‘The Witches Of Eastwick’ A Musical Comedy at Harrogate Theatre.

We are one of the first in the UK to secure this sensational show, which is ‘Musical Comedy Heaven’. The show which is based on the film of the same name, first opened in 2000 to rave reviews at the Theatre Royal Dury Lane, London. The production starred Ian McShane, as the devilishly handsome Darryl Van Horne. 

Set in the late 70’s, the story follows the lives of the townsfolk in Eastwick, a usually sleepy town in New England, USA. Van Horn enters the lives of Sukie, Alexandra & Jane; three ladies who are all trying to find themselves, searching for something missing in their lives, Van Horn invigorates and liberates them. 

The musical score is sensational with a fantastic mixture of numbers from the rousing to the tender. There is such a fusion of styles with hints of ‘Rag Time’, ‘Burlesque’, ‘Les Miserable’, ‘Chicago’ and the show stopping ‘Dance with the Devil’ one of the many big production numbers.  Each song is skillfully woven in to this beautiful story of love, life, empowerment and freedom.
